.:3-31-2005:.
Last week the Nonnebots competed in the New York City Regional.
The robot performed beautifully, except for a... minor failure
in the semi-finals. Thanks to the aid of teams 555 and 1660,
the 3rd alliance walked away as finalists. It was a great time
overall, from cramming into a small hotel, to eating 180 buffalo
wings, to walking away with finalist hardware and the Industrial
Design award for the first time since 2001. Also, by some sort
of miracle, the team is now registered for the Championship in
Atlanta, Georgia! Geoffrey the 8th can strut it's stuff again
with it's elegant tetra grabber and slick drive wheels (complete with bling).
Here's looing forward to another competition!

The Nonnebots are in Rochester, NY attending the innaugural Finger Lakes
Regional. The robot is performing well, although there have been a few mishaps
in a few matches, with penalties and such. Overall the robot is in good shape,
requiring little maintenance.

I'm keeping something of a log with a webcam at http://marc.themikecam.com,
with an occasional webcam image and updates on our progress.

Congratulations to Teams 38, 88, and 177 for winning the 2005 UTC
Scrimmage match in Suffield CT!!! All robots performed better
than expected, and a job well done by all teams in attendance!
Pictures of the event are up in the Gallery.
Now we're in for an all-nighter to heal our battle wounds and prepare
for D-Day (or S-Day) this coming Tuesday!

The photo gallery is now complete. It can be accessed via
the "Photos" link off to the left, or by punching in the address
http://www.nonnebots.com/gallery into your browser.

The beauty of this sort of gallery is I can authorize anyone to
easily upload and manage images, so if Craig or Ed, or Kathy, or
anyone wants to put some pictures up, I can set up an account for
you all to do that. I have tons of pictures on my computer to upload,
from this season, and seasons dating back to 2000. I'll be going through
them a few per night, so look for new pictures to pop up randomly all
week. Of course, no revealing pictures of this year's robot will be
put up until after the Rochester regional :-)

.:2-6-2005:.
Time for some updates! The 2005 season is well underway
and all the pieces are falling into place. The robot was driving
around Saturday, and with a full work session set for Sunday,
We are in pretty good shape for our "ship date" of this coming
Tuesday! From here on out, it looks like the bulk of the work
will be bug crunching, feature improvements, and software
development. There is still much to do, but for the first time
since 2001, we actually have time to do it!

Check back here in the next few days for more frequent updates.
Yes, I really mean it this time. I have a bunch of pictures taken
myself, and a number from Craig that need to be posted. I'm
in the process of setting up some sort of photo gallery, which
for now will consist only of pictures sent to me, but eventually
will have an authentication system in place, so Nonnebot members
can register and upload their own pictures.

Until next time!
~Marc
